student to learn third party negotiation and mediation techniques to resolve issues such as interpersonal, neighborhood,
community, workplace, consumer/merchant and job-related disputes. It follows established curriculum guidelines for the
California thirty-hour state certification that fulfills the basic requirement of the California Dispute Resolution
Programs Act.
Mediation Services
Mediation is a voluntary dispute resolution process in which a neutral mediator facilitates communication between
disputing parties and assists them in reaching an agreement that is beneficial for all. Mediation is unique, in that the
disputing parties agree to work to resolve their differences peacefully without going to court unnecessarily or resorting
to hostile and violent actions. Our staff and volunteers are all trained mediators that provide mediation services to the
community in areas such as family, consumer, neighbor, landlord/tenant and faith-based mediations. These services are
provided at a nominal charge.
