The West Angeles Community Development Corporation (CDC) Homeownership Center strives to stabilize and revitalize neighborhoods in South Los Angeles. We develop housing that is affordable for working families, educate first-time buyers and provide access to financing.
Homeownership is essential to financial success. Your home may be the largest investment you will make in your life. West Angeles Homeownership Center provides the resources and tools to place you on the path to homeownership success, including but not limited to the Homebuyer Education seminar, one-on-one counseling with HUD Certified counselors and credit counseling.
The West Angeles CDC Homeownership Center is certified by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as an Affiliate member to HomeFree USA.
HOMEOWNERSHIP COURSES
Homeownership Express - Pre-requisite Course This REQUIRED pre-requisite course is designed to ensure that you, a home buyer, will have the core financial management skills to use as building blocks to prior to attending the First Time Homebuyer Education Class.This course will review basic financial fitness strategies such as; understanding your FICO score, savings strategies, credit management tools, how to choose the right bank and financial institutions, creating a sustainable savings plan.
After you complete this class and take the assessment, you will receive a certificate (valid for one year from the date of receipt). This certificate allows you to attend the First Time Homebuyer Education Class and Credit Pre-requisite class, whichever is necessary.
The non-refundable fee for this course is $65 per person.* Individuals who have registered and pre-paid for the First Time Homebuyer Education Class, and Credit Pre-requisite classroom training will receive a discount code to allow you to take the class. Foreclosure Options Class - The objective of this course is to enable homeowners who cannot retain home ownership help with information about their options and prepare them for the transition out of their homes and restore their credit.
Per the experts in the HUD education training field, "home owners are unable to retain home ownership, and thus are facing the need to relocate and make a number tough choices related to their housing transition." This class provides practical guidance and assistance to home owners who cannot keep their homes. In order to support homeowners in making informed decisions for their situations, participants will examine options and resources related to exiting homeownership, relocating, restoring, restoring basic security and rebuilding their credit.
